Walter Kohan (Professor at the State University of Rio de Janeiro: UERJ – Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro / Rio de Janeiro State University, Childhood Studies) in dialogue with Gerald Faschingeder.

Paulo Freire has many faces: the educator, for sure. But also the political activist. The refugee. The adviser. The writer. The Marxist, the Christian. The father of a big family. The husband. And, last but not least: the philosopher. The Pedagogy of the oppressed is full of philosophical quotations, starting with Hegel and ending with Sartre, and, as one of only two women that are quoted: Simone de Beauvoir. Between them Marx, Feuerbach, and, very important: Martin Buber with his dialogical concept. Such a dialogue will be realized in the podcast, asking what it means to philosophize with Freire. Does this lead to a loss of the political energy of Freirean thinking? Is there the risk to put Freire away from real life? Walter Kohan will give answers, reflecting his own life. But he will also respond with new questions.
